I hope you and yours had a very happy Thanksgiving. Here in Apalachicola, the festivities have just begun; and we hope to see you during one of our many celebrations.
The Apalachicola Christmas Celebration begins on Friday, Nov. 23rd. Santa arrives via a shrimp boat at 4pm to greet all good boys and girls. The lighting of our tree is at dusk, and Santa is available for picture taking till 8pm. Also, our downtown shops and galleries are open late for your shopping pleasure. This year, Santa will make a second appearance on Saturday at 4pm for our Yule Log celebration. Both nights historic downtown Apalachicola will be lit up with luminaries and music.
Fresh Market on Saturday, Dec. 1: the historic Dixie Theatre becomes an outdoor marketplace featuring handmade natural wreaths, fresh Christmas greens, trees and holiday flowers.
Also on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 6-8 pm: St. George Island's holiday spirit comes alive with the lighting of the Palms. Santa arrives with gifts, and holiday music and refreshments are served.
And on Saturday, Dec. 8th it's Holiday on the Harbor at the Carrabelle City Wharf. Bill Wharton, the "Sauce Boss" will mix up his Spicy Florida Blues while visitors enjoy the Boat Parade of Lights from Marine Street. The festivities start at 5pm.
